Taking it to the streets! We must strut!

lord knows that when a group of "city girls" go out on the town in Ashland, WI, anything can happen.

This is called a dutch angle.

This is called climbing a wall.

This is called product placement.

This is called "being excellent."

This is called happiness.

Dada Fashion/Team Edward?

something happened over spring break and the thing that happened is that I saw Twilight for the first time and now my world has been turned upside down. But it was turned rightside up when my ladies put on some sexy dada fashion wear and danced around a lap top on an air mattress to R. Kelly.

Is it spring yet?

We are on the final stretch people—the final stretch to spring. Which means that for the next two months or so (can you believe that tomorrow is MARCH?! Onward and upward! Henceforth. Etc. Etc.) it is going to be a mess outside. And it has already started. Somehow, when I am walking around outside, my face is colder than it has been all winter and yet all the snow is melting. And then it ices and then it melts again, so what we have on our hands is a big f-ing mess.

I am sure my comrades in the northern regions can attest to my statement that I have just about had it with my winterwear—the thought of putting on my down parka, big snowboots and mismatched winter accessories is enough to make me want to scream. But I gotta keep it together—just have to get through the next couple months.

So...in anticipation of this awkward time passing, as well as the upcoming delivery of my new Tom's shoes, I present to you:

SHOES I CAN'T WAIT TO WEAR*

*as you can see, the following shoes are more spring-friendly than summer-friendly, namely in that they have closed toes. I have a whole 'nother arsenal for summer-time (supplemented by the shoes you see here).

Fantastic little velvety-bow numbers

The resurgence of your favorite shoes from the past is a glorious thing

Whenever I am traveling and I stop at one of those crazy gas stations that carry Minnetonka's, I always contemplate throwing down $40 plus for a pair (word to the wise: never do this if you are looking at the simple flats, because you can find those in droves at thrift stores for a fraction of the price)...moral of the story is, if I ran across these Wallaby-like Minnetonka's at a gas station, and not the Savers I found them at, you bet your pretty little bottom that I would throw down.

For some reason, even though these are the only shoes pictured here with an impossibly small heel, they are also the only ones I have regularly been busting out in the winter—which is dumb because anytime I walk, I need to shuffle like a crazy person. So I am looking forward to being able to walk normally in these little numbers.

HA HA HA HA just kidding. Yes, I shouldn't speak so harshly about boots that have been so good to me all season (warm (AND dry) feet for the first time EVER in the winter), but I am looking forward to putting these into retirement for next year.

Investment Pieces...

Some take out student loans to finance their undergarments. We here at Yoko in Mom Jeans call that "investment pieces." For this season, however, I have forgone my normal $6.99 pair of black canvas slip-ons from K-mart for a bit more socially responsible (and hopefully sturdier) Tom's.

After much debate with my bandmates, I decided on Ash grey. And now I will be sitting at home for the next two weeks waiting for the UPS guy (or gal) to show up, lest I miss him (her).

sex-ee!

CROP TOPS

are totally haute!

Black velvet cropped jacket from a thrift store in the UP (believe it)

Distressed grey top from Forever27 (I feel the same way about the purchase of this as I did with Neko, the mall dog—it is in a good home now, but I don't want to think about how it got there. I guess Jesus is for sweatshops).

Haute pink top from American Apparel (the crux of my new look—both in life and on my body)

D.I.Y. is totally fashion

because how could it possibly not be? If something you made turns your old coat into your new faux fur coat, and if there is a ear on it, AND if it makes you look like your two year old niece when you put it on your head, then I say that is fashion at its best. And that it is HAUTE fashion. BAM BAM HOWL. Mars, thanks for modeling your sexy DIY fashion, it makes the world a better place for all of us.

welcome winter, you sexy old thing, you!

last night Sheila, Nick and I biked home in a snow storm. A SNOW STORM. It is October 10th. I am not ready for this. But you better believe that what I am ready for is some haute winter fashions. With winter comes layering. And with layering comes layers and layers of sexy, sweated-through clothes. And also with winter comes red noses and frozen hands and toes. Can't you see how much I hart(nett) winter?! Can't you tell from my expression? Or my two chins (gotta bulk up if you have any hope in hell to survive). Get ready for some real fashions, coming soon, as soon as Chris gets home and I can get him to hold the camera.

But for now...we have sexy me, with my sexy biking get-up, making a sexy face...my dog, eleanor, being equally sexy, my sexy bike, and our lawn furniture the morning after, looking sheepish (and cold).
